Even though air travel is almost as common as car travel in this day and age, it isn't nearly as simple as just getting in the car and driving down the road. Schedules need to be followed and connections need to be made. Whether it's you or a loved one who is traveling, it's important to know how to find out all the details of your flight(s), especially if there are delays or cancellations.

Step 1.

Visit the website you used to book your flight, like Travelocity, Priceline or Orbitz. In the appropriate fields, enter the confirmation number or your username and password if you created an account with the site. You will be able to view your complete electronic ticket and itinerary. You can also print it out. If you are checking for someone else's flight details, ask that person to provide you with the login information or have him check for you and email you the detailed page.

Step 2.

Go to a website like ViewTrip. ViewTrip can check the details of any flight when you enter the confirmation number. You can view and print the electronic ticket or itinerary.

Step 3.

Go to the airline's website. Enter in your reservation, confirmation or credit card number where appropriate. This is useful because you can view all the flight details and, if necessary, check the status of the flight at the same time.

Step 4.

Call the airline. If you are unable to access the Internet, you can call the airline directly and ask them to help you find the details of a particular flight. You will need to provide the confirmation or reservation number for the flight(s). You can find the airline's phone number in the phone book or by calling the airport directly.

Step 5.

Go to the airport. The airline's kiosk at the airport is available for you to view flight information, check in for your flight or make changes to a flight plan. You can also talk to the ticket attendant directly.

Step 6.

Download an application for your iPhone, mobile or smartphone that enables you to check the status and details of your flight. An application like FlightView for smartphones or Trip Tracker for iPhone gives you or your loved ones the data available on your flight, any delays or cancellations, and alerts for any changes to the flight. These applications generally do not provide itinerary information, however.
