How to Check Airline Flight Status
If you have an upcoming flight, it's a good idea to monitor its status. Oftentimes airline companies may need to delay or cancel flights. The last thing you want is to show up at the airport and find that your flight has been canceled. There are several different ways you can go about checking the status of your flight.
Step 1.
Go to the airline website that is providing your flight. On the home page there is a feature to "Check Flight Status." Click this option, then type in the day, time and flight number (the flight number is printed on your itinerary you received after booking the flight). The website will display the current information about your flight.
Step 2.
Call the airport and have the operator direct your call to the particular airline you are using. You can ask if your flight is still on time. It is often a good idea to do this before leaving for the airport.
Step 3.
Watch your email account. If you booked your flight through a company such as Expedia, Travelocity or Priceline, you will receive emails about any flight changes made.
Step 4.
Look at the flight monitors around the airport if you have already arrived. The flights are listed by time of departure and arrival. Look up the time you are leaving, then find your flight number. The monitor will indicate if the flight is on time and also the boarding gate. Often the boarding gate, if printed on your ticket, may be changed.
