Sawtooth National Recreation Area - Stanley ID Scenic Drive

Preview: This high mountain region sits at the convergence of three mountain ranges and provides some spectacular alpine scenery. In addition to dozens of perpetually snow-capped mountain peaks, there are countless lakes, thick forests and the Salmon River churning its away in an L-shape through the high country. As a recreation area, the Sawtooth is a great venue for almost any sort of outdoor recreation from fishing to skiing, and nature lovers will find great scenery. If you like cool weather, you’re in for a special treat, as the Sawtooth rarely sees temperatures climb much above the mid 70s. So get your jacket and your camera and enjoy the greatest natural splendor that Idaho has to offer. This chapter explains in detail how to tour the park. In addition to a park map the details include driving tours, outdoor recreation, accommodations, campgrounds, dining, and more.
