Annapolis - Annapolis MD Romantic Getaway

Preview: There is a quaint, enchanting city on the banks of the Severn River and the Chesapeake Bay that was, for a short time, the capital of this nation. In addition, it has been the state capital for over 300 years. Walking through the streets, you will be transported back in time; unusual road patterns and an even more unusual mix of Colonial, Federal, and Victorian architecture give this city a look that is quite distinct. Then there is the water. It was this city’s strategic position – at the mouth of the river and on the bay – that gave it commercial importance and made it the ideal site for one of the nation’s leading military academies. These days, Annapolis is known primarily as the sailing capital of the US and the home of the United States Naval Academy. This chapter contains romantic places to stay, the best restaurant discoveries, and the fun activities and special moments that a couple will remember forever.

Review: My wife and I visited Annapolis a few years ago during an East Coast trip. We made the drive up from Washington DC to meet friends for dinner. The town sits on Chesapeake Bay. During the summer, it's fun to eat or have drinks on an outside patio on the bay and watch the boats come and go. The warms summer nights make it easy to stay out late and enjoy the old part of town. We only visited for the night, but this would be a fun weekend destination for any couple looking for a bit of romance and fun.
