Alpine Mountain - Analomink PA Ski Vacation

Preview: Alpine Mountain can pretty much guarantee two things. You won’t lose sight of anyone in your group on the small, single-face mountain, and you’ll be able to ski the trails five times over with no lift lines. It’s one of Pennsylvania’s oldest ski areas, having opened up shop here in the southern Poconos during the late 1950s under the name Timber Hill Ski Area. Ownership changed hands in 1983, taking on Alpine Mountain as its moniker. Alpine falls into the beginner category, with 21 straight, wide trails on an easy 500 feet of vertical drop. Its gentle terrain caters mostly to families and groups. Those new to the sport or still learning will find their confidence rising as they ski most of the trails. One of the resort’s strengths is its varied winter activities, both on-site and just off the mountain. In conjunction with Wilderness Recreations, the resort maintains a snowmobiling center and rental shop on its own course served by 100 percent snowmaking. Snowtubing is now available, snowboarders have a park and halfpipe, and snow skaters are welcome on the trails, with skate rentals available. Nearby at Evergreen Park, a cross-country skiing center operates when a five-inch snow base covers its nine-hole golf course. Penn Hills Resort offers ice skating with rentals and lessons in its indoor rink as well. This chapter contains a thorough description of the resort including driving directions, mountain statistics, trail profiles, extensive lodging & dining information, travel tips, and much more.
