The northernmost reaches of Santa Monica are where you’ll find some of the most outrageously priced homes in all of Los Angeles
County. And it’s no surprise, as this area has it all: the beach
, nearby hiking trails, a good school district, and proximity to excellent places to eat and shop. This walk will head up and down Santa Monica’s notoriously steep pair of Adelaide staircases before heading over to Montana Ave., Santa Monica’s premier shopping and dining district, and then drop down for a quick detour to the beach before returning to the starting point. Finding the beginning of this walk can be a little tricky, as Adelaide isn’t clearly marked with a street sign. As you approach the end of Ocean Ave., you’ll see two streets branching off to the right. Turn on the first street, the one that heads uphill, and you’re on Adelaide. Park on the right side of the street, paying attention to posted parking enforcement signs.
