Preview: This walk explores the 16th Street Mall, a mile-long pedestrian mall that stretches along 16th St. from Broadway to Market Street. Renovated stone and brick buildings, outdoor cafes and superb restaurants, towering glass and steel skyscrapers, and hundreds of shops line the mall. Several parks, plazas, and eleven fountains are scattered amid the gray and red granite sidewalks. This is the place in downtown Denver to people-watch. Every type and sort of Denverite can be found here: businesspeople dressed in chic fashions, panhandlers showing their handiwork, tourists wearing fanny packs and carrying city maps, and artists, musicians, and mimes performing for small change. Special attractions: Tabor Center Shops, May D & F Tower, Writer’s Square, Paramount Theater, many historic buildings, shopping, people-watching, outdoor cafes, microbreweries, and pubs.
