Preview: Cleary Lake is part of a regional park system (formerly called Hennepin Parks) that offers a wide range of outdoor activities. The lake has developed trails, some even paved. A beautiful golf course is all the nicer for its clubhouse and an ample picnic area with pavilion. So, why, in the middle of this modern, developed recreational complex would anyone want to camp, especially tent camp? Cleary Lake actually offers five camping areas: four tightly grouped and confining drive-in campsites and one modest, five-unit site back in the woods just far enough to give a sense of the remote north. Known as Red Pine Family Campground, these five sites are what tent campers are looking for. Activities: swimming, boating, biking, hiking, fishing, golf, and play area.
