Andrews Cove Campground - Helen GA Camping

Preview: During my numerous travels amid the mountains of northern Georgia, I can’t tell you how many times I bypassed Andrews Cove Campground without ever stopping. It wasn’t until I started systematically combing the state for this guidebook that Andrews Cove finally made my radar screen. And what an oversight I had made! This little campground packs a punch. Set in a richly wooded cove on Andrews Creek, flanked by Rocky Mountain to the north and Crumbly Knob to the south, “the little campground that could” provides a waterside getaway in the shadow of the Appalachian Trail, where trout fishing is the cast of a line away and the mountain town of Helen is accessible—but not too close.

Review: very nice trail. Started about 4 PM and didn't see any other person until my return. Trail was clean with only a little trash at a camp site at the end of the trail where meets AT. Trail crosses or follows a number of small streams. Gets steep at the end. Trail is rocky most of the way, so need to keep your eye on the trail most of the time. Especially upon return when descending the steep sections. It's safe, just need to pay attention.
